Recently I was working on a project in Artisan 6 and I noticed that my work wasn't displaying correctly in the workspace. I could see the preview in the Pages tab on the right of the workspace and it looked correct, but on the page itself it was wrong. This is the completed page. The messed up page Notice in the pages panel on the right that it looks different (how it should look). I contacted support and they sent me a link for troubleshooting tips and one of the suggestions was to make sure your graphics driver was up to date as well as Windows. So, it was the graphics card for me that was not up to date. However, I hadn't taken the time to read the email and address the issue and the page got messed up again. Grrr... Messed up again Luckily I have been using the tip shared by Pixie Jan McCallum to keep a notepad file for my project and I upload all my pages as jpgs as well as two page snips. So, I could just check my notes and fix the page. But I am glad to have my driver up to date so I don't have to do that again. Key Takeaways
Sometimes it is not until you get your page laid out in Artisan before you get a feel for additional editing needed on your photos. Take for example the page below. I had a page done and then I noticed that the bottom right photo would be better if there weren't so many distractions. So I edited the photo right in Artisan 6. I right clicked on the photo and edited the image by using the cloning tool to remove distracting elements. Check out the before and after images below. Before CloningAfter CloningDuring my recent Historian 4 Beginner Class, I mentioned during our week 3 discussion on editing image that I typically don't convert images to black and white or sepia in Historian. I usually wait until I am on the page and use it as a way to add drama to a page. Sample using SepiaSample using Black & WhiteYou can see the full color pictures below. The black and white was definitely the better choice for the page. Barkley's (the corgi) coloring actually coordinating well with the decorative elements I was using, so I kept him full color. I used remove.bg to cut him out quickly and create room for my story.
When you create pages of your travels - just a reminder... include maps and other memorabilia to help share the details of your adventure.
p2P Offerings
#p2PRoadTripMapS2F #p2PMappedBI256 #p2PLetsExploreS2F Whenever you purchase a pre-designed page layout, you get more than just the template. You also get all the the decorative elements in the template. Let's take a look at an example. I am working on a project about my life's story. I purchased a template: Stories of Our Life Layered Template 07 by Katie Pertiet. https://www.forever.com/products/stories-of-our-life-layered-template-07 I added the template to a project. I created a personal art kit in Artisan 6: Stories of my Life Elements. Katie Pertiet has many of these templates. So, I plan to add to this personal art kit as I go. Since there are so many elements on the page, I work in the Elements Panel starting at the top and working my way down. Right click on first element (skipping text boxes and photo frames). Select Save selection: Save image to a personal art kit. Click box that you acknowledge it is part of a copyrighted kit and that you plan to only use for personal use. In the next pop up, navigate to your newly created personal art kit, set item type to Embellishment and then name the item. By the time I was done there were multiples of the same item type, it was helpful for me to have the personal art kit open in another window (outside of Artisan in Windows Explorer). This way I could know if I was saving Frame #2 or #3. :) As I work down the Elements Panel, I clicked on the eye to hide the elements I had already saved and I locked them as well. Once the page is blank (after last item hidden), you are done! Enjoy the bonus 40 elements you gained. Then you can add them to a page opposite the template and now they coordinate!
A few months ago, Forever had a sale on their Forever Boxes. I have many, many old Creative Memories Power Sort Boxes of photos. Most likely I won't scrapbook most of the photos, but I still want to be able to see them. However, I really don't want them crowding my space. So... with the boxes on sale for 50% off - I bought the big one. I paid full price of $519.99 and that will give me $1039.98 of digitization. Plus there is my club discount of 5% that is not even figured in there. I have old photo books, movie reels, VHS tapes, printed photos and old family photos to fit in the box. I added three scrapbooks, two VHS, one movie reel and one power sort box full of photos. There was so much room left. I went through three boxes of Scott's mom's family photos and there is still so much room. I will finish the fourth box and start adding in more photo albums my mom made. So many cool photos. Can't wait to get them in my account.
Back in the 2nd half of 2015 we remodeled our basement. Did you know that I had a vision of having digital crops down there before the process began? I wanted both places at a table and recliner seats with lap pads for digital divas to come and work on their books. December 2015 I had my first Digital Café. We have been meeting monthly ever since. I started out putting together small gifts for attendees of fonts and templates. Then gradually that morphed into digital art kits with papers, embellishments, shapes and usually 6 templates. I even launched my own art brand: Digital Café Art. Then in May 2020 I found out that Artisan page files are actually a proprietary file and not eligible for giveaways or to sell. Hence the birth of the page sketch. So, over the last 15 months I have been creating handouts and videos showing my digital scrapbooking peeps how to create my templates. This has been a fun process of learning how to make the handouts and the videos. My customers have missed the ease of just getting my templates, but also have learned so much more about the software. Check out my latest page sketch demo on YouTube by clicking below. When we first started our Digital Cafes it was an extended time to work on our projects and I would be available to help when needed. Also, it started with snacks and morphed into two meals. All for just $15. Well, it's time to get back to basics. It's time to get our photo projects done. My Digital Cafes will be streamlined to give us all time to work on our photo projects. Plus the fee will be more in line with what guests receive. Digital Café Fee: $15 Includes 12 hour crop, professional help from me & snacks and drinks. Page sketches will not be permanently going away, just on a hiatus for a few months. When I bring them back... some will be FREE and posted to YouTube and others will be in kits on my store for purchase. I will have Virtual Sketch parties and it will give us a time to get sketches done if that is your groove. For now I will log off and get this posted. It will take me a few days to get my website updated so this information is shared there as well. Thank you for your business and your understanding and I worked to help my customers with their photo projects.

AuthorI've loved photography all my life. Have been making photo albums since high school. I love helping people do something memorable with their photos. Have so much fun planning workshops for people to get together and work on their photo projects, share stories and fellowship. Looking forward to making this even easier with new products that will make it a snap to finish. Archives
